FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE--
BOTETOURT COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE DETECTIVE GRADUATES FROM
VIRGINIA FORENSIC SCIENCE ACADEMY 104TH SESSION
FINCASTLE, VA – The Virginia Forensic Science Academy has concluded its One Hundred and Fourth Session. The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce that Detective Devin R. Dudding has successfully met all requirements and graduated from the Academy on November 11, 2021.
Detective Dudding began his career with the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office in February of 2012 as a corrections officer. He then served as a Patrol Deputy before transferring to Investigations in 2018. Dudding is currently assigned to the United States Marshals Service Local Fugitive Task Force.
The Virginia Forensic Science Academy, nationally recognized, is an intensive nine-week course of study providing advanced training in the practical application of recovery techniques to properly recognize, document, and preserve, for laboratory examination, items of physical evidence found at crime scenes. Participants become familiar with the capabilities and limitations of the modern forensic laboratory in examining the spectrum of materials which can be collected as evidence in criminal cases.
“Forensic examinations of crime scenes are essential to our success in fighting crime and identifying suspects and we are pleased to have Detective Dudding joining the ranks of the experienced forensic examiners currently employed by our Office”, said Sheriff Matt Ward.
